A little about Angela…
Angela Eastwood
NZIPP Accredited, Master with Distinction I
Owner / Photographer
I am a mother of two young boys, who definitely keep me and my husband on our toes! I’m an NZIPP Master of Photography with Distinction, and have been in business since 2013. I was proudly awarded 2024 NZ Professional Photographer of the Year, along with many other print awards through the years with the NZIPP Iris Awards & Asia Pacific Photography Awards. I love photographing those important family milestones - from newborn and beyond, and older babies with Milestone & Cake Smash sessions. Since I started working in this industry, I've been busy photographing, studying, and educating myself. I pride myself in being highly experienced in handling and soothing newborns, and in capturing those first smiles and giggles of growing tots. I love babies of all ages: their squishy little toes, sweet smiles, and tiny button noses.
Using touches of texture and soft pops of colour, I create timeless artwork that will be treasured for years to come.
I will always advocate for getting everyone in front of the camera, and creating special images that your children will treasure as they grow older. I hate being in front of the camera myself, and have to push down all those thoughts of "oh I'm too fat for photos", or "my hair doesn't look right" or "I look too tired", and get in frame with my two gorgeous boys every now and then too. Because at the end of the day, they don't see any of that - they just see mum. And one day, they will look back on our images and be able to see the love - and that is exactly how I want them to remember me. So I challenge you all to do the same - get in the frame, make lasting photographic memories for your children. They'll thank you for it in years to come.

Preparing for your Newborn Family Session
-

The Night before
Some babies will sleep for 5 or 6 hours during the night, and although this seems like a great thing, it is not ideal for our session. They will arrive very awake and very hungry. So please try to keep to a 3 to 4 hrly feeding schedule the night prior to your session. They will be much more restful and content if you do this.
-

The Morning of your Session
Please try to have baby awake at least an hour prior to the session starting. Try to feed just before leaving home, we can do top up feeds during the session if needed.
If you are bottle feeding, having extra bottles and/or milk is suggested. Some babies tend to eat more than usual during their photo sessions. It’s best to be prepared!

What to bring
If you have a pacifier please bring one. I have sterilised “soothie” pacifiers here for use during the session that I’ve found to be the most effective in soothing newborns. The short amount of time we might be using one should not affect any habit forming behaviours for your baby. My goal is to help keep the baby happy and calm during our session.
If you have any special items you’d like to include in your session please bring them and I’ll try to incorporate those where I can (eg heirloom shawl, toy etc)
I have everything required for baby for the session, but please have baby dressed in a front button/zip onesie when you arrive for ease of undressing.

What to wear
For studio portraits dress as though they are heading to a summer BBQ at your fancy friend’s house. Something light and casual, and neutral. I find simple soft tone colours are best, avoiding black, bright pinks/reds and no bold patterns or logos. Consider colours that will compliment the colours in your home, so that your artwork will be a perfect match!
I love natural portraiture that really captures the reality of my subjects, and skin retouching is kept to a minimum. I can recommend a hair & makeup artist should you want to do this before your session.
